Purpose of role:
Oversee the manufacturing processes from production to dispatching. Overall accountability for the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) including Customer Specific Requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Task management:
• Ensure that Company QMS conforms to the IATF16949 and ISO 9001 manuals.
• Quality Manual to be up-to-date, structured, fit for purpose, effective and user friendly.
• Have a practical understanding of the latest revisions of ISO 9001 and IATF16949 requirements.
• Monitoring individual team members performance (daily), as well as monitoring team performance (quarterly).
• Manage training and development of team members.
Customer service:
• Ensure that Customer Specific Requirements are recorded and that every employee understands customer needs and deliver the expected outcomes.
• Regularly review work processes for improvement opportunities.
Operational management:
• Develop the QMS in conjunction with team programmes to support the organisation’s business strategy.
• Monitor and report on progress towards achievement of plans and strategies.
• Foster a customer-focused working environment, with clear responsibilities and expectations entrenched in the QMS.
• Keep abreast of quality related developments.
Relationship management:
• Establish and maintain active and constructive relationships with members of all disciplines within the organisation.
• Conduct annual management review meetings to review company quality performance.
Health and safety:
• Upkeep of the company’s Health and Safety Manual.
• Ensure that the QMS provides for training in safe practices and contains procedures and work instructions.
Line function responsibilities:
• Production & Scrap control, random testing and inspections, verification of production statistics, fault finding, minor repairs to faulty equipment, stock count of consumables and ordering and control of rented packaging.
• Upkeep and maintenance of the QMS documentation including procedures, policies and work instructions.
• Where required, liaison with customers, suppliers, and service providers.
• Deal with all customer complaints as well as the relevant corrective actions.
• Oversee and participate in all audits including external audits, customer audits, as well as internal system and process audits.
• Initiate new contract reviews including all related processes such as APQP, PPAP and PSW.
• Initiate and present specific quality training to all employees.
• Monitor customer satisfaction/perception and maintain relevant performance scorecards including all company KPI’s.
• Manage the calibration of all measuring equipment through service providers as well as internal calibration including MSA studies.
- Minimum Grade 12 (Standard 10) or prior learning and experience.
- Tertiary qualification in either Management, Technical or Quality.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Supervisory position responsible for Quality Management
- At least 5 years’ experience in the Automotive component supplier sector
- Quality auditor training – IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
- Automotive Core Tools training
- Problem Solving Techniques (G8D)
- Familiar with automotive project planning – PPAP, PSW
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office, SYSPRO, SAP portals)
- Familiar / knowledge of various customer portals.
- Basic understanding of mechanics, electricity and pneumtrics
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to take decisions, take corrective action, co-ordinate activities and accept accountability.
